The Last Perch Series (Extinct Birds)

The Nuka-Hiva Red-Moustached Fruit-Dove (Ptilinopus mercierii), was a species native to the Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia. This beautiful bird was characterised by its vibrant red moustache and colourful plumage, making it a unique and visually striking species. Unfortunately, the Nuka-Hiva Red-Moustached Fruit-Dove became extinct in the late 20th century due to habitat loss, hunting, and other human activities.
